Software and Systems Engineering Research Group (SwSE)
Software needs are in constant evolution.
Every day, software engineers face new challenges as software permeates any aspect of our life reaching the mass with sophisticated systems like mission-critical navigational systems, safety-critical nuclear reactor control systems, or business-critical enterprise resource planning systems.
We believe that the quality of software and software services, in terms of reliability, safety, and security is of paramount importance. Software Engineering studies the development and maintenance of high quality software in a systematic, controlled, and efficient manner. As such, Software Engineering applies the principles of mathematics, engineering, and social sciences to achieve solutions to software problems in the development, operation, and maintenance of software and systems that meet the requirements.
Empirical Software Engineering is part of Software Engineering research; it aims to increase the understanding of software engineering techniques, tools, and methods based on the collection, analysis, and interpretation of software engineering related data.
